Tips'n Tricks #1 - Wide guitar

Hello all! I'm once again introducing a new series called Tips'n Tricks. This will be used for sharing tips so miniscule that they are even too small for my Short'n Snappy -series. Also, this is a good way to keep the blog breathing with useful things (instead of kittens) with a relatively small effort, for those extra busy weeks.

Fat Guitar

Here's a quick tip for some extra Mojo for your guitar parts. A simple way to get your guitar sound wide and massive without any plugins. Enjoy!

If you want an organic, wide and massive guitar sound, one solution is very simple. All you have to do is record your guitar track twice. You don't need to change any settings or the guitar tone, but just play the part two times.

After you have your two takes of the same guitar part. Pan the other hard left and the other hard right. That's all there is to it. Check out a demonstration from the video below. Oh, and if you are wondering, that's the main riff for the next Aatos -production (Aatos K. Uolevi - Man behind the lobe).

Now this was just a fast sample, and the two guitars are played a bit loose which creates an effect of two distinct guitars instead of a single widened guitar that I was talking about. But it still sounds quite nice and massive. And with sharpening the playing accuracy, the effect can really give a great organic wide sounding guitar, without the use of extra plugins and avoiding all possible phase issues of the more "advanced" methods.

Thanks for reading/listening, and maybe drop a comment or two (in stereo?)
